2020-06-01 · Eve Eve is the second planet from Kerbol, the closest planet to Kerbin, and KSP’s analogue for the planet Venus. It has one small moon: a captured asteroid called Gilly. It is especially notable for its extremely thick, dense atmosphere, which makes aerobraking and returning two of the most dangerous activities in the game.

You can greatly reduce the amount of fuel required to achieve an orbit around Eve by aerobraking. I want to try to aerocapture the rescue craft, or at least use a bit of Eve's atmosphere to slow myself down and burn less fuel. I'm hoping to save around 200-400m/s 2 with aerobraking. Is that viable?

I send a probe to Eve and try to aerobrake to make orbit.Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3_9DyRP49hBObLDdf2_I_F7O8aZDZ-TDThanks to SQUAD fo No, Aerobraking and Aerocapture are two different Aeroassist techniques Belchja 21:30, 26 August 2006 (UTC) Occurances in fiction. The Clarke maneuver is definitely aerocapture, not aerobraking. I suspect the Hienlein one too, but I have no copy of Space Cadet. Aerobraking is extremely challenging but worth it, say mission engineers, because it eliminates the need for the heavy load of extra propellant that would otherwise be needed to place the spacecraft in its desired orbit. Aerobraking Saves Cost and Mass A large, heavy spacecraft requires a large, expensive launch vehicle.

Depends on what final altitude you want, around 65 km should get you into orbit, don't go any lower then 50 km though or you may have to try

The deorbit burn targeted one of the bigger landmasses of Eve, avoiding the large oceans, many of which appear to be huge meteorite craters. Then, after more than 10 million kilometers and multiple aerobraking episodes, the main craft separated from the rover.

With aerobraking complete, additional manoeuvres will bring the craft into a near-circular two-hour orbit, about 400 km above the planet, by the end of April. The science instruments will be tested for several months from the new orbit.

Even though I’d planned for an insertion burn, I did try for an aerobreak once in the Eve SOI. The walk-in phase occurs during the first four to eight orbits following Mars arrival. That phase will be used as a calibration period so that engineers can understand how the spacecraft behaves in and out of aerobraking. Eve is the second planet from Kerbol and is the second largest body orbiting it. It is purple in appearance. It has one small moon, a captured asteroid called Gilly.

Eve has an atmosphere which is even thicker and a gravity which is even higher than that on Kerbin. That means your craft needs an even stronger heat shield for atmospheric entry than it would need for Kerbin, and you don't seem to have any at all.
